File extension MMF is a data format for music, specified by the Yamaha Company for mobile electronic devices, such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) and cell phones. This file extension is used by SMAF, which stands for Synthetic Music Mobile Application Format, as it is general as ring tones for use by mobile phones, featuring one between five chips of sound. SMAF is similar to MIDI, the difference being it supports sound playback for PCM and graphics. Its playback for MIDI is produced through Wavetable synthesis for PCM or FM synthesis.
